In 1985 the Group diversified its business and set up United Insurance Company Ltd. (UIC) to conduct business in general insurance. UIC commenced business on October 15, 1985 and has been offering prudent and selective underwriting combined with prompt and personalised service.

Underwriting insurance has become very competitive in Bangladesh, however UIC has been able to maintain its quality and it is well respected in the industry for its prudence and ethical business approach. UIC’s main products are fire, marine, motor and associated insurance coverage. The Company is a pioneer in the field of healthcare insurance and has introduced hospitalisation and overseas medical insurance schemes in its healthcare plan.

With a complement of 140 staff in nine offices/branches, UIC has come a long way in the last 25 years overcoming numerous challenges. As a first generation company in insurance with a good asset base and prudent policies, UIC looks forward to meeting the challenges of the future with confidence.
